The album description mentions an “emotional apex.” That’s really the difference between Stare and the band’s previous albums. Ulcerate was always supremely technically proficient. I just didn’t care all that much. Their growth has come from making music you will feel. Metallurgical Fire
Sylvaine's artistic capabilities are way too advanced. Even on her debut album, she wove and arranged an immersive experience, engulfing the listener completely for almost an hour. I listened to this two times in a row already and I cannot stop. While this is a beautiful album (which is relatively soft, compared to her other albums), it is also impressive how much her songwriting skills and voice have improved since. Wondrous, melancholic fragility to kneel down to. For quieter moments. David Fischer
